WE DON’T KNOW ANYTHING!!! #fieldproblems! But have no fear Yuko Stender is here!!!

Hey guys, it’s Cindy here writing my first solo blog. The day started out late for this gang. It was actually one of the only days that we didn’t have to wake up early to prepare for the day. It was a good thing everyone slept in because the day turned out to be super long.

GIS is a complicated but useful tool that can be used to input and analyze data with. This is a visual type of analysis that helps researchers show oceanographic and biological data together. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty lost for a while but Yuko was really patient and slowly explained each function within the system.

There was a lunch break about midday, but everyone was tired and only snacked instead of actually eating. GIS really took a lot out of us. So after our lunch break we brought a coffee pot to the classroom to help energize us. The rest of the lecture was spent playing around with the system and learning how to use it.
