Hi all, Marisa here. With our third week coming to a close everybody has been running around wrapping up the last of the experiments and analyzing their data for their project. Fred’s Bikini Babes ( Kelsey, Sam, Kate, Nicole and Jessica) were hard at work doing statistical analysis and graphing their data. While the sediment team ( Justin, Anita, Sarah and Cindy) just started their second burn which is going to take them a whole 12 hours!
Below we have Anita pounding away at some coral rubble to determine the composition.
While Team Banana Sting ( Andrew, Ashley, Paige and Marisa) picked up the last of our CLOD cards and have them set to dry overnight. Below are pictures of Team Banana Sting going out to pick up their CLODs from patch reef 1 also known as Coconut Island on the only sunny day this week.
The water was great and none of us had to put on a wetsuit to dive down and collect our CLODs. Once we were in the water it was so hard to get out.
With an afternoon of more important lessons on GIS the groups all wound down for the day before dinner. Paige and Ashley brought their hammocks and finally achieved their small dream of stacking hammocks.
It wasn’t long till the three of us were asleep thanks to Andrew serenading us with his guitar skills.
Dinner was made by our resident GIS expert Sam, with the help of Paige, who made an awesome vegan chili after setting off the smoke alarm (which everyone napping slept through). Once the house was saved from burning, everyone enjoyed their chili which was perfect for the cool evening, leaving everyone full and happy.
