Day 12: The 12th Day

Hello. This is Alex. Today Team Yellow checked out the south bay. Unlike the northern area of Kane’ohe Bay which is spotted with many patch reefs, the southern side is characterized by its fringing reefs. As we expected, we saw a lot of deteriorated reef. We have also found that the water turbidity is much greater. This observation falls in accordance with Team Yellow’s hypothesis that the south bay corals are experiencing a greater degree of stress from eutrophication. During our field work our boat ran into a problem. The engine would not start so we paddled out towards our final site. Thankfully Karissa saved the day with her excellent boat mechanic skills. Field problem SOLVED!
